About

Santa Fe Soccer Alliance is an independent volunteer organization that works with the City of Alachua Recreation Department to promote and teach the sport of soccer. We support the concepts of good sportsmanship and respect, working with children born between 2010 and 2020. Age groups will now be determined by birth year. SFSA consists of 3 different soccer programs: Recreation (formerly known as Alachua Soccer League), Academy, and Academy Prep. RECREATION is a COED recreational soccer program for players born in 2010-2020. We have become one of the largest and fastest-growing youth co-ed recreational soccer programs in the area! As part of our commitment to the players and the community, a majority of the games will be played in Alachua this season where we have adopted a structure of smaller teams, more games, increased playtime, age-appropriate field dimensions, and rules designed to enhance growth and skill-building and most of all...fun for our youth! Kids of any soccer experience can participate on a team. Our hope for each player is they not only grow as a person, but also develop a passion for the game.

More Information

RECREATIONAL PROGRAM – Santa Fe Soccer Alliance

Santa Fe Soccer Alliance offers a COED recreational soccer program for players born between 2022–2010. Our recreational program is designed with one clear objective: developing a love for the game in a fun, safe, and engaging environment.

At the recreational level, we prioritize player engagement over standing in lines, touches on the ball over waiting, and fun over formality. Every team follows a simple, player-first practice approach focused on:

  • Maximizing touches on the ball

  • Reducing line-waiting and downtime

  • Keeping practices fun, active, and engaging

  • Building confidence, coordination, and enjoyment

This is not a rigid curriculum, but a flexible, easy-to-follow practice framework that helps coaches keep players moving, involved, and smiling. The goal is simple: kids with a ball at their feet, having fun, the entire session.

Games & Competition

Games will be played between Alachua and Jonesville as part of our continued partnerships and growth. This allows us to:

  • Play both internal league games and outside recreational competition

  • Reduce repetitive matchups against the same teams

  • Create a more dynamic and enjoyable season for players

This structure keeps the experience fresh while remaining age-appropriate and development-focused.

Who Can Play

This program is open to players of all experience levels—from first-time players to returning athletes. No prior soccer experience is required. Our mission is to help players grow as teammates, individuals, and young athletes while building a lifelong passion for the game.

Coaches & Volunteers – Support Starts Before Day One

Our league is powered by parent volunteers, and we are fully committed to supporting coaches—especially first-time coaches—every step of the way.

Before practices begin, all coaches and volunteers will be invited to a Coaches Clinic, where we will:

  • Break down practice structure and flow

  • Review easy-to-follow practice frameworks

  • Demonstrate age-appropriate exercises and activities

  • Share tips for keeping sessions fun, active, and organized

This clinic is designed to remove uncertainty and help coaches feel prepared, confident, and supported before stepping onto the field.

Volunteer head coaches are also provided with:

  • All necessary equipment (soccer balls, cones, pinnies)

  • Ongoing guidance and resources

  • Direct support from our Recreational Director, including the ability to receive assistance or shadow support during the first few practices

No coach is left on an island. Our goal is to create a positive, supportive environment where volunteers can succeed and enjoy the experience just as much as the players.

Beginning this season and moving forward, all volunteer coaches are required to complete SafeSport™ certification prior to participation.

If you are interested in volunteering, simply indicate so during registration or contact us directly—we will reach out with next steps.
